En abril 2023 se firmó un convenio entre la Facultad de Educación, Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades de la Universidad de la Frontera y el Servicio Nacional de Protección Especializada a la Niñez y la Adolescencia de la Región de La Araucanía. Este convenio permitirá el desarrollo de actividades conjuntas relacionadas a fortalecer los derechos de niños, niñas, adolescentes y sus familias, además de instancias de conocimiento entre profesionales y funcionarios del servicio, fomentando la vinculación de la comunidad universitaria con necesidades y/o intereses del medio, mediante la retroalimentación de conocimientos. En el marco del convenio, se lanzó el proyecto “Construyendo y fortaleciendo una red para el acogimiento”, el que será liderado por un equipo de académicas del Departamento de Psicología de la UFRO correspondiente a las investigadoras Alba Zambrano, Marina Alarcón, Pamela Jiménez y Paula Alarcón, quienes trabajarán en conjunto con el Servicio Nacional de Protección Especializada a la Niñez y la Adolescencia.
